OTIP logo OTIP stands for Occupational Therapists in Independent Practice - a Specialist Section of the College of Occupational Therapists.

If you are looking for a State Registered Occupational Therapist to give you independent advice or to provide private treatment, you can search the online directory. The Directory lists members of OTIP providing a wide range of services throughout the country. In some cases they are able to provide services in Europe or internationally.

All the occupational therapists in the directory are State Registered by the Health Professions Council and are members of OTIP. They are all also covered by professional indemnity insurance to carry out their business. As members of OTIP, all the entrants have been provided with our Code of Business Practice and are kept up to date with statutory requirements relevant to their work. However, inclusion within the directory is without liability to OTIP and confers no recommendation.

Some of the occupational therapists listed within the directory will work within organisations, in groups of associates or in partnerships, whilst others will be sole traders. Where occupational therapists work single-handed or without a supporting organisation, OTIP recommends at least 5 years' post-registration experience.

It is possible that you may be able to receive the occupational therapy service that you require free of charge from the NHS or your local authority. OTIP has a responsibility to draw your attention to these statutory services. It is also possible that you have already approached these services but discovered that you do not qualify for some reason or that there is a waiting list. If this is the case we hope that you will find the assistance that you require.
